You don’t have to live with subpar breast augmentation results. If you are unhappy with your implants for any reason, a revision procedure can help you create the body you deserve. Dr. Lyos will walk you through the entire process and help you determine precisely what steps need to be taken to address your concerns and create the results you wanted the first time around.
Capsular contracture develops when thick scar tissue forms around the implant, causing pain and aesthetic changes.
When a saline or silicone implant ruptures, it needs to be replaced promptly. A saline implant rupture is visibly apparent, while a silicone rupture may only be detected via an MRI.
If the edges of the implant are visible and rippling is apparent, Dr. Lyos can move the implants to a location within the chest that offers more coverage.
After undergoing a breast augmentation, you may discover that you would prefer larger or smaller breasts. When this occurs, Dr. Lyos can exchange your current implants for a new size.
Many of our Houston clients with saline and older silicone implants decide to exchange them for newer, softer, and more natural-feeling silicone and gummy bear options.
Some women are unhappy with the position, shape or feel of their implants after surgery. When this occurs, revising the procedure and replacing the implants can address these issues.
Prior to undergoing your breast revision, you will need to meet with Dr. Lyos for a comprehensive consultation and evaluation. During that meeting he will assess your current implants and talk to you about your goals for the procedure. From there, he will help you select the implants, placement, size, and projection that will make your vision a reality.
Dr. Lyos will perform your breast revision in the comfort and safety of our state-of-the-art Houston surgical center. It will be done under general anesthesia and should take approximately one to two hours to complete. Depending on your needs and the reason for your procedure, he will take one of the following approaches:
If you simply want your implants removed, an incision will be made along the crease of the breast and/or around the areola. Through that opening, Dr. Lyos will remove your implants, along with any excess scar tissue. In most cases, he will also perform a breast lift to ensure a perky and youthful outcome.
Many of our Houston clients choose to have their implants replaced – often due to a desire to make aesthetic changes. When this occurs, Dr. Lyos can typically reopen the original incision to make the exchange. He may also adjust the placement of the implant or reconstruct the pocket simultaneously to prevent future complications.
In some cases, the implant isn’t the problem – the breast pocket is. If you’re having a revision due to implant displacement or bottoming out, Dr. Lyos may simply suture the breast pocket so that it’s a smaller size and more capable of holding the implant in place.
